Why omega-3 is so important for children  

Omega-3 fatty acids have been extensively researched as part of over 6000 scientific studies. Their effect on health is incredible. Some researchers even refer to them as the "miracle foods of the 21st century.”   

Even unborn babies benefit if their mothers ingest certain omega-3 fatty acids in sufficient quantities. DHA (docosahexaenoic acid), for example, already contributes to normal development of eyes and brain in the fetus – as well as later in the breastfed infant.

However, of all foods, the important DHA (docosahexaenoic acid) and EPA (eicosapentaenoic acid) omega-3 fatty acids are found in fish – disliked by many children. While plant-based alternatives exist, the extracted omega-3 fatty acids are often less potent and bioactive. That's why many omega-3 supplements contain fish oil rich in omega-3 – which doesn't taste particularly pleasant even to adults and is downright repulsive to children.

From what age can I give my child UltraPure Omega3 Kids? 

UltraPure Omega3 Kids chewable capsules are suitable for children from 4 years onwards. For infants aged 1 to 4 years, we recommend mixing the liquid content of 1 capsule daily (pierce a capsule with a needle for this purpose) with food or a drink. The whole capsule should not be given to small children due to choking hazard. 

At what age can I switch to UltraPure Omega3 for adults? 

UltraPure Omega3 Kids chewable capsules are intended for children up to about 12 years of age. Experience has shown that at a younger age, the children sometimes take issue with the taste of UltraPure Omega3 capsules. If this does not bother your child, you can let them switch as soon as they can eat properly and no longer have difficulties swallowing a capsule. 

My kids don't want to take fish oil capsules because they think they're gross. What does the fish oil in UltraPure Omega3 Kids taste like? 

It is true that fish oil by itself does not have a pleasant taste. For this reason, we have added a natural mixed fruit flavour to UltraPure Omega3 Kids, both to the oil and the capsule. This makes UltraPure Omega3 Kids tastier than the supplements of many of our competitors. 

My child is allergic to fish. Can I use UltraPure Omega3 Kids regardless? 

No, UltraPure Omega3 Kids contains fish oil and therefore fish. However, to support an optimal supply of omega-3 fatty acids, Vitality Nutritionals also offers exclusively plant-based omega-3 supplements that can be used in this case.
