Highly-dosed selenium complex capsules for optimal supply

Science-Backed

Our body cannot produce selenium on its own. Therefore, it is essential to meet our daily selenium requirement through diet. To ensure optimal selenium levels, a targeted food supplement can be beneficial when needed, especially if it contains selenium from vegan sources.

In Europe, animal-based foods are considered the most reliable source of selenium, which is why vegetarians and vegans often have lower average selenium levels. [1]

Selenium can directly and indirectly influence important functions of the body. The European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) has scientifically examined and confirmed the functions of selenium in the human body [2] and confirms its effect:

Immune system

• Selenium contributes to normal functioning of the immune system

Thyroid gland

• Selenium contributes to normal thyroid function

Reproduction

• Selenium contributes to normal sperm formation

Skin, hair, nails

• Selenium contributes to the maintenance of normal hair
• Selenium contributes to the maintenance of normal nails

Cells

• Selenium helps protect cells from oxidative stress

Oxidative stress caused by so-called free radicals or free oxygen radicals can promote diseases and signs of ageing. Although the body is equipped with complex protective mechanisms, when the balance between free radicals and these defenses is disrupted and the damaging effects of free radicals outweigh the protective mechanisms, oxidative stress results. Oxidative stress in the body can be caused by factors like overload, environmental toxins, cigarette smoke and alcohol, among others.

Do Selenium Complex capsules have any side effects?

According to the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA), a daily selenium intake of up to 300 µg is considered tolerable for adults, with no risk of harmful side effects. [1] When the recommended daily intake of Selenium Complex⁵ is followed, no side effects are therefore generally expected.

For children and adolescents aged 1 to 17 years, the tolerable daily selenium intake is lower and ranges from 60 µg to 250 µg, depending on body weight. [1] This product is therefore not recommended for individuals under 18 years of age.
