Just like omega 6 fatty acids, omega 3 cannot be produced by the body itself, but must be supplied with food.
Omega 3 are essential for the development of the central nervous system, ensure normal blood pressure and healthy blood lipid levels and play an important role in inflammatory processes.

Krill oil contains a 15:1 share of omega 3 to omega 6 fatty acids and is therefore able to compensate for this imbalance. Inflammation can be prevented, and existing inflammation subsides more quickly.
Phospholipids are fats that are the main components of the cell membrane. They form a barrier and have the task of protecting against stress, filtering toxins out of the cell and protecting them from free radicals. The membranes of the brain cells are the most phospholipid rich in the whole body.
The special thing about krill oil is that the EPA and DHA it contains are bound to phospholipids. This significantly increases the bioavailability of these two Omega 3 molecules, which means that they can be better absorbed and used in the body.
Compared to triglyceride-bound fatty acids, EPA and DHA fatty acids bound to phospholipids are better absorbed into the cells. Therefore, smaller amounts of phospholipid bound EPA and DHA fatty acids are necessary to achieve the same effect.

Antioxidants are substances that ward off free radical attacks on the cells and can therefore protect them from damage. Astaxanthin, the natural red pigment in krill, is a powerful antioxidant from the carotenoid family.
The astaxanthin in krill oil is directly bound to the EPA and DHA phospholipid molecules, which increases its antioxidant effects in the cell. It is also able to cross the blood-brain barrier, which explains its unique effect on the brain.
When the antioxidant potential of krill oil was measured, it reached an ORAC value of 378. It is 300 times higher than vitamin A and vitamin E and 48 times higher than conventional omega 3 fish oil.
Each Krill Oil Royal capsule contains 1000 mcg astaxanthin and thus has the highest astaxanthin content per capsule on the market. In comparison, other krill oil products only have a content of 50 to a maximum of 500 mcg per capsule.
In addition to its cell-protecting effect, astaxanthin has the additional advantage that it protects the oil itself from oxidation and thus keeps it stable.
