Lemon balm extract
Lemon balm (Melissa officinalis) belongs to the mint plant family. In nature, lemon balm is native to the warm south and southeast of Europe. When cultivated, it is also found in Central and Western Europe, as well as in Western Asia and the Mediterranean.
The mild, delicately lemon-scented aroma makes lemon balm a popular and versatile herb. However, lemon balm is known not only as a popular ingredient in the kitchen, but also for its soothing properties.
Lemon balm contains a compound known as rosmarinic acid, which is said to have strong antioxidant properties. According to a 2015 study, rosmarinic acid in lemon balm also increases the level and activity of a neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA) in the brain and improves sleep quality.
Vitamin B6
Vitamin B6 plays an essential role in the nervous system. Generally, B vitamins are needed for the formation of neurotransmitters in the brain, which influence mood, energy and much more. So taking B vitamins can also improve stress management, which in turn has a positive effect on sleep.
Vitamin B6 is especially important as it helps regulate hormone balance and affects mood and sleep by helping the body produce serotonin, melatonin and norepinephrine.
