Magnesium Synergy is a combination of three different magnesium compounds – magnesium citrate, magnesium bisglycinate and magnesium malate – supplemented with vitamin B6. The idea behind it: to combine different forms of magnesium instead of using just one.

The recommended daily dose is 2 capsules, one in the morning and one in the evening, each with a glass of water and with a meal. This provides 300 mg of magnesium (80% of the daily requirement) and 2.8 mg of vitamin B6 (200% of the daily requirement).

Magnesium Synergy is ideal for individuals who suffer from muscle tension or sleep disturbances. It may also be beneficial for those who frequently experience stress, are physically active, or follow a diet with limited magnesium sources. Citrate, bisglycinate and malate are all chelated, highly bioavailable forms of magnesium, but differ in the binding partner (citric acid, the amino acid glycine or malic acid). 

In practice, bisglycinate is often described as particularly gentle on the stomach, while citrate and malate have different reasons for use.

The manufacturer justifies this by saying that each form has its own bioavailability and properties, and that the three forms are therefore intended to complement each other. The EFSA has not yet proven any scientific advantage of a mixed formula over a single, highly bioavailable form (e.g., pure glycinate).

The EFSA has scientifically confirmed several functions of magnesium, including contributing to normal muscle function, maintaining normal bones and teeth, normal energy metabolism, normal protein synthesis, reducing fatigue, normal functioning of the nervous system, normal mental function, and electrolyte balance.

The product is not recommended for pregnant or breastfeeding women, nor for children and adolescents under the age of 18.
