Fenugreek is a species of plant that is widespread in India, south-west Asia, the south-east European Mediterranean region and today also in Central Europe.
In Indian cuisine, fenugreek seeds are known as a component of curry powder and fenugreek leaves are used to flavour vegetables or fish. In the Alps, fenugreek seeds are used as a spice for some types of cheese and bread.
The ancient Egyptians, Greeks and Romans already knew fenugreek as a medicinal herb: For internal use for stomach problems, gynaecological problems or for calming down as well as for external use for burns or boils. Fenugreek is also used in today's natural and herbal medicine.
The nutritious seeds are often recommended to strengthen yourself during the recovery process. Fenugreek is used internally as a tea, infusion or dietary supplement in capsule form and externally as a paste or porridge.
